How to Book a Twilight Tee Time When Morning Is Gone
Twilight is not one clock time. Each shop sets its own start by season. Read that shop's board, then book the late window when the morning sheet is already grey.
Twilight is a late-day rate window the shop defines. It is not a fixed clock time. When morning and midday are grey, that window is often the Saturday or weekday round that still opens.
What twilight actually is
A twilight tee time is a discounted start late enough that the shop no longer prices you as a full primetime round. Super twilight starts later still. Many shops guarantee at least nine holes and tell you plainly that 18 is not promised before dark.
That trade is the point. You get on the course after the morning wave is gone. You pay less. You may finish in nine, or you may get a full 18 if pace and daylight hold.
Each shop sets its own clock
Do not guess 3pm for every course. Two public shops publish different calendars for 2026.
At Presidio Golf Course in San Francisco, twilight and super twilight move with the season. For 17 August through 20 September 2026, twilight starts at 3:00pm and super twilight at 5:00pm. From 21 September through 31 October 2026, those starts move earlier to 2:00pm and 4:00pm. From 1 November 2026 through 24 January 2027, twilight starts at 1:00pm and super twilight at 3:00pm. Presidio also lists walking and cart twilight rates, and a cheaper super twilight rate with cart included.
At Overland Park Golf in Kansas, the published twilight board for March 8 through October 31, 2026 starts at 1:39pm on weekdays and 2:00pm on weekends. Super twilight on those courses begins much later in the long season: 6:00pm weekdays and 4:00pm weekends from March 8 through October 5, 2026, then 4:00pm every day through October 31, and noon every day from November 1, 2026 through March 13, 2027. Weekday twilight there guarantees nine holes, then you ask the shop whether a second nine is free.
Those two boards alone prove the rule: read the shop you want to play. A Seattle June twilight and a Midwest November twilight are not the same window.
How to find the window on the book
Open the course rates or tee sheet page first. Look for a twilight table, a seasonal start list, or a rate that drops after a named hour. If the public book only shows price tiers without a clock, call the shop and ask when twilight and super twilight begin this week.
Then book inside that window, not before it. A 12:50 that still carries the morning rate is not twilight, even if it looks late on your calendar.

What you are trading
Expect a lower green fee. Expect a real chance that darkness cuts the round. Expect the shop to prefer a 2-some or a 1-some in the last hours, because filling holes beats empty twilight slots.
Do not treat twilight as a secret early release. It is the opposite: the shop prices the day after the primetime demand has already been served. If first light is what you want, read the older early tee time notes instead.
Check once, then call
Check the twilight table the morning you care about. Confirm the start hour for that date range. Then book online if the sheet shows open twilight slots, or call if the late book is thin.
Ask for the first twilight, a 9-hole turn, or super twilight if you only need a short loop. Ask whether the shop still posts leftover twilight holds after lunch. Do not ask them to invent a morning hold at a twilight price.

- Do not assume every course shares one twilight hour.
- Do not book a discounted late slot and then no-show when the forecast looks soft. Starters remember.
- Do not send a booking bot at a shop that bans automation. You lose the account and the walk-up.
